The time efficiency of citizen journalism also benefits from its informal and simple news reporting process. Opposite to the professional journalism, citizen journalists can report the news straightly and with out any editing as well as post-production. Because the public reporters invest less time in editing session and avoid wasting time on the discussion with the editors, so they can report the news as quickly as possible and the news from them is more efficient (Lacy et, al 2010). Because of this reason, the time efficiency of citizen journalism is obvious and outstanding, and it has met the timeliness requirement of a professional journalism.

Citizen journalism is not only speedy on reporting news, but it is also discovering news quantitatively. Bowman and Willis (2005) said that most people are interested in exploring and disseminating the news, which has not been concerned before. It is understandable that people want to share some special information for resonating and improving communication with others. The positive attitude of reporting news, coupled with the convenient high technologies that brings advantages to the news quantity. As a result of this effect, citizen journalism can discover and share different news stories and it is efficient on disclosing abundant news.

Furthermore, citizen journalism does not place any restriction on the news materials and the quantity of news can benefit from it. Reporting the wired and funny news is the most special feature of citizen journalism. It can provide different types of news for entertaining and relaxing, and it also help people avoiding the serious local news (Lin 2014). In other words, more stories will be found and concerned, so people may not only focus on the traditional news. It has emphasized again, citizen journalism has the efficiency of covering different news.

On the other hand, citizen journalism is not always perfect and it also has to overcome some limitations. The irregular updating and subjective news attitude of it are criticized, and those two reasons will affect the efficiency of citizen journalism negatively.

Regularly update the news is extremely important and necessary in professional journalism, but it seems be ignored by citizen journalists.
