The above statements promote the generation of  MI  theory.  In  Gardner’s  opinion,  the  definition  of  intelligence  is  narrow  in  the  past, therefore  people’s  real  competence  is  not  totally  presented.  Gardner  gives  a  definition  to individual’s intelligence, and intelligence is a index that is used to measure one’s ability of solving problem. According to this definition, he divides intelligence into seven categories in  Frames  of  Mind,  and  they  are  Linguistic  intelligence,  Logical-mathematical,  Spacial intelligence,  Musical  intelligence,  Bodily-kinesthetic  intelligence,  Interpersonal intelligence,  and  Intrapersonal  intelligence.  In  1995,  Gardner  (1995)  added  naturist intelligence  to  MI  theory.  Above  these  statements  provide  theoretical  foundation  for  MI theory.

2.2 Studies on reading 
This part introduces the definition of English reading, the models of English reading and English reading activities.For reading definition, many scholars have an attempt to describe it.  Ruddell  (2001)  believes  that  reading  is  a  communicative  process,  in  which  readers make  contact  with  the  text.  As  far  as  she  is  concerned,  the  text  provides  previous information  and  experience  for  readers,  and  readers  also  reconstruct  the  text  according  to their experience.   Nuttal  (2002)  makes  a  explanation  from  three  aspects:  (1)  decode,  recognize  and identify, etc; (2) articulate, speak and pronounce, etc; (3) understand, respond and meaning, etc.  Han  and  Deng  (2006)  believe  that  English  reading  is  a  process,  in  which  givers  or receivers  of  information  perceive,  comprehend,  analyze,  conclude  and  judge  for  English text, picture, signal and sounds.  In conclusion, all definitions include linguistic form and meaning understanding, and illustrate  their  relationship.  And  it  can  not  be  said  which  one  is  better,  every  scholar  just defines reading in different language form.
