sp;of  “learner autonomy” has been formally put forward in 1981 by Henri Holec, the “father” of LA. In  recent  years,  it  has  become  hot  spot  in  the  foreign  language  education  field,  and also the new trend of foreign language teaching in the future. Terms of LA also have been  given  in  various  ways  consequently.  And  in  the  overseas,  there  are  two  main expressions  for  it:  self-access  and  autonomous.  Hedge(2005:77)  pointed  out  that  the concept  “autonomy”  in  learning  is  described  in  various  terms,  such  as  self-access learning,  self-directed  learning,  self-regulated  learning,  self-monitored  learning, self-instruction,  self-organized  learning,  self-education,  self-planned  learning, self-managed  learning,  independent  learning  and  so  on.  Even  there  are  other expressions  that  quite  different  from  the  meaning,  such  as  learner-controlled instruction, active learning, open learning, participatory learning and so on.

4 Results and Discussion 

In this part, the author demonstrates the results and make discussions of the study aiming to solve the research questions. First of all, it analyzes the data of MMQ and LAQ in order to grasp the general situation of Chinese non-English majors’ MM level and LA level. After that, it analyzed the correlation between MM and LA through the use  of  four  strategies  of  MM.  Then  the  qualitative  research  followed  to  testify  the results  of  the  quantitative  study  and  find  out  more  completed  conclusions  from students’ attitudes towards the training. At the end there will be a discussion according to the research questions and analysis results.
