Conclusion


Although this study was fulfilled according to the design, which still has somelimitations.
Firstly, this experiment was carried out on the students whose majors are artdesign, and whose English levels are lower before they came to college. So it is still a question whether the conclusions drawn from this thesis can fit other major students.
Secondly, this study has not coped with the subjects’ gender, age, and intelligentlevels, the affective factors of personality, motivation, interests, backgroundknowledge and other factors in teaching process, which are also of great influence onstudents’ working memory capacity and reading ability. To get a more reliable result,other researchers need to select randomly a larger sample and pay much moreattention to factors of individual differences.
Thirdly, in this thesis, reading comprehension is discussed from working memoryperspective. Although comprehension is widely used in all aspects of reading, here itis used in a more specific sense. It is used just in the classroom teaching and learning,not the consequences of reading real literature and documents and so on.
Fourthly, despite its popularity, there are still some disadvantages of reading spantest. First, the score range of the reading span test is narrow.
