4   Data analysis and discussion 

This  chapter  shows  results  and  analysis  of  the  data  achieved  from  the  experiment.  It includes  the  data  analysis  of  the  pre-test,  and  post-test  that  are  tested  on  students  in  the experimental class and control class as well as the data analysis of the pre-questionnaire in the two  classes  and  the  post-questionnaire  that  are  tested  on  the  experimental  class  students.  It also  includes  the  data  analysis  of  the  interviews  both  for  English  teachers  and  students. Therefore,  all  the  analysis  results  can  provide  powerful  convincing  explanations  for  the research questions. 

4.1   Results and data analysis of the tests 

In order to ensure the reliability and validity of the study, the author conducted a pre-test at the beginning of the experiment to testify whether the English achievements of the students in  experimental  class  and  control  class  are  at  the  similar  level.  The  data  were  collected  and analyzed with the help of the Independent Samples Test. Before  the  experiment,  the  students  who  participated  in  the  teaching  experiment  were distributed the test papers, and the author used SPSS19.0 to test the scores of the students and the  independent  samples  showed  that  the  vocabulary  levels  of  the  experimental  class  and control class were not significantly different.
