In recent years, many scholars have carried out a lot of research on criticalthinking skills and English reading teaching, but the research object is more inclinedto higher education students, and there are few researches on primary school students.This study is to test the operability and effectiveness of the theory from the practicalteaching, so as to further fill in and improve the relevant theories, and strive to applythese theories to the English Reading Teaching of primary school students'speculative ability training again.

From the perspective of students, this paper aims to improve students’ criticalthinking skills and English reading level. In the primary school stage, it is of greatsignificance to gradually infiltrate the students to treat problems dialectically. In theprocess of reading teaching, it can not only improve students’ critical thinking skills,but also enable students to deeply understand the thinking quality and emotionalattitude of the text author, making students’ thinking more rigorous and orderly. Fromthe teacher’s point of view, the problem design method used in this study can provideeffective reading teaching methods for teachers, and combine English reading withthe cultivation of students’ critical thinking skills as far as possible. At the same time,this study tries to change teachers’ traditional teaching concept, encourage teachers topay attention to the cultivation of students’ critical thinking skills , and use the correcteducation concept to know English reading classroom teaching.


Chapter Two Literature Review


2.1 The review of critical thinking skills

The cultivation of critical thinking skills is one of the cores of educational reform anddevelopment. This paper will provide a new perspective and enlightenment for thecultivation of critical thinking skills in primary school English reading teaching fromthe aspects of the proposal of critical thinking skills, the model of critical thinkingskills, and the research status of Critical thinking skills in English teaching

2.1.1 The proposal of critical thinking skills

The term “critical thinking skills” originated in Confucius, and with its continuousdevelopment, critical thinking skills has become a research hotspot in variouscountries. Because the research of critical thinking skills has been developed for along time abroad, the research of critical thinking skills is more extensive. In the past20 years, Chinese scholars have begun to study the critical thinking skills in depth,and have made achievements in the corresponding fields. With the continuous rise ofspeculative research, the definition of speculative is also a hundred schools of thought.Researchers in different fields have different understandings on different aspects ofcritical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are “critical thinking skills ability” or“high-level thinking ability”, which is discussed by scholars in China.
