5.1 Major Findings

Based on the content validity analysis model constructed by Bachman andPalmer’s Test Task Characteristics Model,the author combined with the NewCurriculum Standards,carried out a detailed analysis on the English readingcomprehension part of the SHSEE in Chengdu in the past six years.Based on theobtained data,the author combines quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis tosummarize the content validity of English reading comprehension in variousdimensions of Chengdu SHSEE,analyzes its rationality and shortcomings,andanalyzes the development trend of this question type in the future based on thecharacteristics of propositions found in the analysis process.Based on the analysisframework,the author conducted a detailed analysis of English readingcomprehension in Chengdu SHSEE(2017-2022)to help the author solve thefollowing research questions:

(1)According to The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),how is the content validity of English reading comprehension in theChengdu Senior High School Entrance Examination(2017-2022)?

Based on the New Curriculum Standards and the framework of content validityanalysis,this paper analyzes the English reading comprehension in part A of ChengduSHSEE in the past six years.The results show that,on the whole(as shown in theTable 4.9),the content validity of the English reading comprehension test in Chengdufrom 2017 to 2022 is high,but the content validity of some dimensions is low.Thefirst is readability.Flesch formula was used to calculate the readability of 18 readingcomprehension articles in the past six years,and it was concluded that the average readability of reading comprehension from 2017 to 2021 was high,and only theaverage readability of 2022 was low,which means the article is more difficult.Easyto read is not conducive to the examination play its role in selection.Secondly,in thedimension of theme,the content validity is low.Based on the three major themesproposed in the New Curriculum Standards,namely,man and self,man and society,man and nature,the author makes an analysis of the reading comprehension themes ofthe 2017-2022 SHSEE.The analysis results show that text theme is not a high degreeof coincidence between the theme of the recent six years and the theme proposed bythe New Curriculum Standards,and the theme repetition rate is high,showing thecharacteristics of low content validity.Finally,in terms of question types,Englishreading comprehension questions in part A of 2017-2022 Chengdu SHSEE are all 5true or false questions and 10 single choice questions.The topic type is relativelysingle,and the content validity is not high.
