Students in junior middleschools in China have strong motivation to pass high school entrance examination, soteachers and students have paid more and more attention to learning English. Some ofstudents think it difficult to learn English because English is a foreign language. Moststudents regard reading as an important part in their English learning However, we can findthat most of students can not do effective reading because they are not interested in Englishreading. During reading, the students will not take the initiative or become active inreading well. Especially cultivating students’ comprehensive competence of English ismore difficult. English reading is a type which investigates comprehensive competence,but some students are bored of English reading. They can’t keep on reading when theymeet some new words. Eventually the score of English is generally low.Therefore, English teachers should help students to memorize words and let them beinterested in English reading. English teachers should arouse and consolidate students’interest in English reading as much as possible. English teachers should combine students’interest with their English reading and should also provide more chances for the students tohave a feeling of success. Students can be encouraged and interested in learning English ifthey are able to achieve their individual goals and experience success. English teachersneed to identify the different reading levels of the individual and provide them with tasksaccordingly.
