摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究基于勒温(Lewin,1936)的场动力理论、默里(Murray,1938)的需求-压力理论、穆斯(Moos,1974)的人类环境理论和建构主义学习理论,通过中学生英语课堂环境调查问卷、访谈和课堂观察,调查太原市太原师范学院附属中学8个平行班共388名学生和8名英语教师的英语课堂环境感知现状。

本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究基于研究结果,英语教师应结合不同性别、年级、学业水平的学生对英语课堂环境的感知差异,适当地从教师支持、任务取向、学生亲和、合作、课堂秩序和情景支持维度改善英语课堂环境,同时结合学生对理想课堂环境的描述,在课堂环境中加入新的元素,从而激发学生英语学习兴趣、提高学生的英语成绩。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research background

Learning and teaching activities only take place in certain environment.As the mainvenue for these activities,classroom environment is one of the significant factors thateducators can’t ignore during the teaching process,for the quality of Education andteaching is directly affected by classroom environment(Liu Liyan&Liu Yongbing,2010).As the most widely spoken and used foreign language in China and one of the coresubjects in junior high school,English classroom is the main place for students’foreignlanguage learning,therefore,English classroom environment occupies a significantposition in China’s secondary school education.However,the extent to which Englishclassroom environment is created,and students’perception of the classroom environmentand their psychological conditions in the process of English learning are often neglected inactual teaching process,which directly affects students’English learning,teachers’teaching process and the efficiency of language teaching activities.Therefore,Englishclassroom environment and students’perception of English classroom environment areworthy of being concerned.

National English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022)alsostresses the significance of classroom environment and students’potential needs,whichstates that teachers should consciously create contexts and space for students to activelyparticipate in teaching activities and explore the thematic meanings,making students gainpositive learning experience and become subjects of meaning inquiry and activeconstructors of knowledge.Also,students’diverse and individualized learning needsshould be paid attention to.

1.2 Research purpose

According to the current situation of the domestic researches,based on Lewin’s Field Theory,Murray’s Needs-Press Theory,Moos’s Human Environment Theory,andConstructivist Learning Theory,this thesis aims to investigate junior high students’perception of English classroom environment from a more comprehensive perspectivewith the combination of multiple research instruments including adapted classroomenvironment scale,interview and classroom observation,so as to supplement researcheson classroom environment in junior high school and help improve the actual Englishclassroom environment and the quality of English learning and teaching.The specificpurposes are as follows:

(1)To investigate the current situation of English classroom environment in juniorhigh school from the perceptive of students and analyzed the collected data at overall leveland categorical level,which helps strengthen students’cognition of the English classroom,gradually increase their awareness of English learning and their commitment to Englishlearning.

(2)To further explore differences of perception among students of different gendersand grades according to the dimensions of the English classroom environment so thatEnglish teachers can adjust teaching methods or strategies in different teaching processand situations.
