摘要:Through the investigation about the college English learning adaptation state of freshmen,we can find the problems existed in flieir English learning. And this can provide someimplications for teachers and administrators to help freshmen to adapt to the new environmentand teaching model as soon as possible.

e based on Piaget's "Balance Theory". Xu Xiaojun (2004),by studying theexisting literature, defined adaptation as the dynamic mental process in individuals, with theirIawareness and experience based on the changes of internal and external environment, throughactive self-regulation, making their psychology and behavior stay in harmony with theIenvironment; he defined adaptability as the individuals' tendency of habitual behavior showedin the process of adaptation to internal physical and mental activities and external socialjenvironment, on the basis of the basic ability and personality potential, in its own specific'social background of their age,through the interaction with the environment of social life. Hej believes that the adaptation mainly includes: multiple-dimension of adaptation, adaptationIpurpose; adaptation is a dynamic psychological process; adaptability mainly refers to:adaptability is essentially an ability; adaptability is the product of the interaction of individualIand social environment; structural hierarchy of adaptability. According to the difference in theextent of directivity of individual's psychological and behavioral towards self and the externalenvironment, Wang Tao (2002) divided individual's adaptability into two mainsub-structure—self-directed adaptability and social-directed adaptability, the former includinglearning adaptation, living adaptation, physiological adaptation, occupational adaptation, etc; the latter includes social environment adaptation, human environment adaptation and stressenvironment adaptation.

2.2 Research home & abroad
An extensive and in-depth research in college students learning adaptability had began in80s of last century in abroad. The researchers mainly focused on the main factors affecting thelearning adaptability of college students and the measurement tools.Foreign researchers were more inclined to the perspective of factors affecting collegestudents learning adaptability, rather than probed into this topic in a single. The existingresearch data shows that the factors affecting college students learning adaptability can bedivided into two aspects: the students' personal factors and environmental factors (familysocial background, school environment, teaching environment and dormitory environment,etc.).From the point of students' personality factor: Chartrand, Judy M (1990) carried on aresearch on the effect of college students' personal factors on their learning adaptability fromthe perspective of social psychology and humanism-environment adaptation. The resultsshowed that college students' self evaluation, sense of responsibility and expectation to be agood student in learning can directly affect their learning adaptability in the first school year,and they further influence their learning adaptability and academic achievement in the future.Student with high level and strong identity of these three factors showed that he or she had agood learning behavior and low academic pressures. On the contrary, the students will beconfronted with more problems in learning adaptability and more psychological pressure.
