In recent years, as experiential teaching is on the rise, there are too many researches on the experiential teaching theory applied in English teaching of junior middle school. However, researches on this theory applied in English grammar teaching of junior middle school are much less. This thesis proposes the experiential teaching mode which has positive theoretical and practical significance to improve the students' ability to use grammar. Firstly, my thesis mainly studies the application of experiential teaching theory in English grammar teaching of junior middle school, aiming at improving the students’ competence of applying grammar. According to above problems, we realize that the present grammar teaching in junior middle school is not satisfactory. Although English grammar teaching has mature teaching models, such as explicit grammar teaching, implicit grammar teaching and natural grammar teaching (lexical approach to grammar). However, it is too difficult for the teacher to stimulate students’ learning interest and motivation by using these methods because the students are not interested in the boring rules and complex terms of grammar. During this process of grammar teaching, the teacher is the center and the students play a supporting role. There are more activities designed for teachers, few to students. Secondly, experiential grammar teaching encourages students discover the grammar rules by experiencing real situations and apply the rules into the actual communication. literature review
In this part, the author presents the literature review. Firstly, the author outlines the experiential teaching including definition and characteristics. The development abroad and the current situation at home of experiential teaching are illustrated in details. Secondly, the author reviews the previous studies on English grammar teaching at home and abroad. Thirdly, the author reviews the theoretical foundations including constructivism and humanism. The implications of the two theories on grammar teaching are illustrated.
