摘要:The survey involves nearly 1200junior high school EFL teachers from 4 cities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.Therefore, the empirical study on secondary EFL teachers' professional competence andtheir needs for development is very much evidence-based.
Conclusion
The present study conducts a large scale of survey concerning 1094 EFL teachersfrom key middle schools and ordinary middle schools in Guangxi Zhuang AutonomousRegion in order to comprehensively report their characteristics of professional competenceand their needs for professional development. Meanwhile, the Independent Samples Testshows that there are significant differences between professional competence and schooltype and between needs for professional development and school type. Moreover, thestatistical results of the Pearson Correlation and the Multiple Linear Regression indicatethat the professional competence of key middle school EFL teachers have a predictiveimpact on their training motivation and needs for training content, and the professionalcompetence of ordinary middle school EFL teachers affects their needs for professionaldevelopment. Thus, some suggestions are put forward to future training program. It isimperative for training program to enforce the English language teaching skills of theentire junior high school EFL teachers. The training programs should pay attentions to theteachers’ professional competence which has a great influence on their needs fordevelopment.
