Executive Summary
The main purpose of this paper is for compiling an analysis report basing on the case of Edinburgh International Book Festival focusing on the areas of human resource management. Totally there are two main parts of this paper: Part 1 assesses the staffing requirements for the Edinburgh International Book Festival through identifying and discussing the various staff roles and the differing terms of employment; Part 2 presents a range of recommendations for Edinburgh International Book https://www.51lunwen.org/humanresource/ Festival in the aspect of Human Resource strategy, which will cover the aspects of recruitment, selection, training, motivation and engagement of the Festival staff. In the reasoning process, case approach and qualitative approach will be used as two main reasoning methods. With the whole paper’s analysis, it can be got that for event’s human resource management, it is dynamic and complicated; it should combine with the event’s specific situation and characteristic.

1.0 Introduction
history of Edinburgh International Book Festival can be traced back into 1983 and since 1997, it has come to be one important annually event in Scotland’s capital (Official website of Edinburgh International Book Festival). Observing its history, it can be said that Edinburgh International Book Festival does grow rapidly both in size and in the aspect of scope. In 2011, totally the Festival held 761 events, enjoyed by people of different ages, including children, adult and old men. In 2011, Edinburgh International Book Festival employed 126 members of staff working for the above 761 events (Annual_Review_2011). In the aspect of staff structure, there are three levels: board of directors and year round staff (both of these two levels are full time and year round employed), temporary festival staff who just might be signed with three weeks to six months contracts. Currently there are seven board directors and Susan Rice is the Chair; 17 year round staffs (Official website of Edinburgh International Book Festival).
