However, the firstimportant thing is to make a general and wholly research and analysis tothe factors that may mainly influence the English listeningcomprehension test. In the previous researches, many people haveclaimed some of the factors from some specific aspect, but few of themdid an analysis about that wholly. The NMET of English listening test ofHunan province leaded the reform of the NMET of English listeningcomprehension test, since its separate proposition, it reformed greatlyfrom question type to the proportion of the language points. This papertries to make a relative comprehensive and practical analysis of thefactors that influencing the difficulty of the English comprehension test ofHunan NMET. Combining the practical situation of the Hunan NMETEnglish test and many other previous about factors influencing thelistening comprehension difficulty, the paper analyzed the main factorsthat influencing the difficulty of Hunan NMET English test listeningcomprehension item.The factors that affect the test difficulty are various, but in total theyall could be considered from three aspects: the examinee, the examinationpaper and the examination environment. The factors that affect thedifficulty of listening comprehension are also from these three scopes.Suppose all the examinees with the same personal characteristics takepart in the same examination in the same testing environment, they willgenerally get the same score, which means the difficulty of theexamination to the examinee will be the same. As we know, this kind ofcondition could never happen. However, as far as the meaning of thisresearch be concerned, this research was did in the hope that it couldsupply some suggestions in controlling the difficulty of the listeningcomprehension test and the learning of English listening comprehensionof those students, we will not analyze the factors from the aspect ofexamination environment.In this paper, we try to answer the following questions about thelistening comprehension:(1) What are the common factors that influence the difficulty oflistening comprehension?(2) What are the main factors that influence the English listeningcomprehension Objective items' difficulty of NMET (Hunan)?(3) How do these main factors influence the English listeningcomprehension Objective items' difficulty of NMET (Hunan)?The whole paper is finished in five parts. The first part is theintroduction of this paper in which the significance and main purpose ofwriting this paper is claimed as well as its main questions that this paperconcentrated on in the study. The second part is the
literature review. Inthis part the theoretical basis and related research from domestic toabroad are introduced. The whole chapter about the researches is dividedinto two parts一the researches about factors influencing the difficulty oflistening comprehension and the researches about variables influencingitem difficulty of listening comprehension items. In the third part, theresearch design is presented. In Part four, the paper analyzes the data anddiscusses the main questions. The last part of this paper is the conclusionpart of this paper, also, the suggestions according to this research ispresented in this part.
