Two Wire Interface for Automotive and Avionics Display Applications
Abstract
英国留学生电子科技课程论文 With ubiquitous application of LCD’s within the transportation (Automotive & Avionics) and in the industrial markets, the current generation digital interfaces are confronted with a unique set of technical demands and challenges that are not normally seen another industries. Technical Demands and Challenges such as wide temperature operation (- 40° C to 105°), Galvanic or electrical Isolation, reduced interconnect count, long cable length drive (up to 10 meters). In overcoming these technical challenges we have developed a new interface product which features an ultra reduced interconnect (2wire) serial interface. Features and the resulting benefits of how this new interface product has overcome these technical challenges are reviewed.
Introduction
As the application of LCDs begin to proliferate into other nontraditional computing or consumer Electronics applications, new technical challenges begin to tax and burden the capability of the current generation of embedded digital interfaces for LCDs. The most common embedded digital interface, LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling), is reaching the end of its useful technological life in supporting certain application segments such as in the transportation (Automotive &Avionics) and in industrial markets. In meeting and overcoming these technological challenges, we have developed a new Interface Chipset1 with LVDS “like “electrical characteristics but with dramatically reduced interconnect count through an innovative embedded clocking scheme and wide data serialization ratio which results in an interconnect that is just one Differential Pair (2 wire). In addition, this new interface product is capable of supporting long Cable drive lengths and AC Coupling. In fully appreciating the significance of this development, a detailed review of the requirements and challenges are examined.
The Challenge
Within the Transportation and Industrial markets the following set of requirements have emerged as a set of standard requirements for any Display interface whether digital or analog in nature.
• Reduced Interconnects
• Wide Temperature support: - 40° C to 105° C
• Galvanic/Electrical Isolation (AC Couple).
• Long cable drive Capability: Up to 10 meters
As in the commercial electronics or computing applications, overall system cost is lowered and overall front of panel image quality is dramatically improved through the deployment of a digital interface. Thus digital interfaces (LVDS and HDMI) are the interface of choice in numerous applications.
For obvious reasons, reduced interconnect count will result in a dramatic overall system cost savings. The reduced interconnect provides additional flexibility in the routing and assembly of the Display system within space confined applications. In particular, reduced interconnect will make the routing of interface and/or other electrical harness through www.51lunwen.org/uk/ chassis a much less daunting task.
