摘要:研究表明,英语专业的学生使用母语表现出语义韵律相似的特征,但更多的情况下表现出与母语不同甚至相反的语义韵律的特点。

For vocabulary learning is byno means an easy thing. Only to know its pronunciation as well as Chinese meaningisn't far enough. It also includes more important aspects such as its stylistic features,semantic prosody and collocation all which are contributing to the EFL learners’correct, native-like usage of English. It is impossible for EFL learners to masterlanguage without such knowledge. Therefore, teachers should know not only howmany words students have mastered but know how well they employ them.Furthermore, a solid vocabulary, especially solid synonyms of mastery plays a vitalrole in communication. Thus, a lot of studies confirm that synonym problems ofteninterfere with English usage. English learners should be fully aware of synonymssignificance. Dissatisfied with the present circumstances of learning English withoutreal context, more and more linguists intend to find alternative teaching methodsamong which Corpus-based method, also called data-driven learning, is one ofpioneer methods.Although some explorations have been made on synonyms, yet little woik hasbeen undertaken from the perspective of corpus. Even less work is not related to nounsynonyms. Therefore, the thesis attempts to deal with noun synonyms in terms ofcorpus. By paying much attention on the noun synonyms' collocation and semanticprosody, the author hopes to provide some valuable implications for EFL teaching andlearning.


  
  1.2 Theoretical Reflection理论思考
  During the past decades, much has been made through the powerful computers toassist in language analysis. Readers of John Sinclair definitely notice the way inwhich corpora have been used to take effect in describing and exploring thelanguage's nature, usage and structure features .Up to now, corpora applications havebeen found in varied fields such as literary studies, lexicography, language learningand language teaching and so forth. With development of computer technology, theresearchers can carry out comprehensive and profound researches into languageanalysis due to corpora offering a large empirical database.The analytical methodologies involved in this thesis contain error analysis,contrastive Inter-language Analysis and Computer—Aided Error Analysis .It deals withcomparisons of Native Speakers' usages and EFL learners' usages regarding thechosen synonyms .To make the data comparable, the following three variables need tobe taken into account in advance;(1) Learner types. It is necessary to point out that the learner corpus comes fromChinese EFL learners. As Nickel (1989:298) observed that the lack of a cleardistinction between EFL and ESL will partly affect the contradictory results obtained.While in the thesis, the learners should be called EFL learners as far as their learningsituation is concerned. In this case, the difference between EFL and ESL will not befiirther discussed.(2) Advanced English learner.
