Conclusion


On the basis of empirical research, we can safely draw the conclusion that the strategies ofNOS vocabulary teaching strategies is indeed effective. It quenches the thirst of students needsaccording to the questionnaire, illuminates the imaginations of the students according to theauthor's observations, and enhances greatly the students' grades judging from the pretest and theposttest.
This study has shown an insight into the vocabulary teaching and learning in GuangzhouNOS. The author has used observations, questionnaires, and tests to know about vocabularylearning attitudes, beliefs and strategies. Nevertheless, this study is limited for its comparativenarrow range.First, the time period is rather short. The author only observed the students in the SAT classfor fifteen days and compared them according to their tests results. There are those, as the authorhonestly admitted, who learned slowly and may not resulted in a such a short period of time. Andstill there are those who may seem to be fast learners but may not gain a relatively good result inthe end.Second, some important variables in vocabulary learning strategies are not mentioned in thestudy, such as gender differences, which may also result in some corresponding consequences.Therefore, there is a long way in the research and exploration of vocabulary learning andteaching field. The author is going to be a NOS teacher in Wuhan, she will further her research inteaching strategies in SAT vocabulary classes.
