vilizations, namely the Huaxian civilization. So strong has been the impact that when the Chinese watched the Korean drams, and films, they could sense their own traditions being played. Not only this, but watching the Korean programs was a source of pride for the Chinese since it portrayed how Korea standards and principles based on the Chinese standards.

Governmental support:

Government support accounted for 25% of the entire Korean wave in China. In the year 1997, as the financial crisis surrounded Asia, the government of Korea stepped in to export the popular culture, lifestyle, and values as a means to strengthen their economic position. This factor provided a push for the Korean wave. The government was so keen to promote their culture to other countries that a budget of approximately $149 million was allocated for this task.

Diplomacy:

Diplomacy is another factor, which contributed 15% towards the Korean fever. The international relations between China and Korea, which began in 1992, gave way to a series of negotiations, favorable interests and political consensus in the interest of both the countries. The Chinese were not only compelled to copy the modern hair styles, clothing, and fashion of the Koreans as depicted in the Korean television programs, but the blend of western and traditional values, prevalent in the Korean culture, provided the Chinese an accessible path towards development, innovation, and modernization. This coupled with the fact that Korean products were comparatively cheaper than those imported from Japan and Hong Kong increased the competitiveness of the films, dramas and music of Korea, this immensely aided the Korean influence in China.

5.2.3 The impact of the Korean film industry on the Chinese population and the Chinese cinema

During the period from 1999 to 2005, the Korean wave engulfed the entire south Asia including china. It had an impact not only on the population but also on Chinese cinema, which suffered considerably because of the success of Korean films. Chinese population, like everybody else preferred Korean movies and dramas to their own local ones. In china, the impact was particularly significant because of the similarity in cultures of the two countries. During this phase China itself was going through a transition from conservatism to modernization. The fact that the Korean films were an amalgamation of a modern Hollywood style with the culture and lifestyle of Korea (South East Asia), made Korean films all the more popular in Chi论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
