摘要:As the diversity of the field of English education in the high vocational college,students require teacher education rather than a mere training approach. The conceptof teacher training is based on the assumption of clearly predefined competences andskills that student teachers need to develop in order to deal with predictable problemsand requirements.

1. Introduction


1.1 Genesis of the Present Study
The word “corpus” simply means body in Latin, therefore the corpus can bedelimited to be anybody of text. (Biber,1988) But in the context of modem linguistics,corpus has more specific connotations. It is defined as a collection of representativeand authentic language material basing on the random sampling technique.

“文集”这个词仅仅意味着身体在拉美,因此语料库可以是任何人的文字分隔。 (Biber有,1988),但在现代语言学的上下文中,语料库有更具体的内涵。它被定义为代表积极行动和真实的语言材料基础上的随机抽样方法的集合。

  

Generally,Corpus is the specific term used to describe a text set which preserved in electronicform. (Conrad,1996) Corpus-based language study can date back to the 1960s(Evelyn & Cheryl, ]995)and has come into its own since the 1980s with the growth ofmulti-million word corpora due to its dependence on computer technology.

一般来说,语料库是特定的术语,用来描述电子形式保存在一个文本集。(康拉德,1996)基于语料库的语言研究可以追溯到20世纪60年代(伊夫林谢丽尔]995号)和20世纪80年代以来的增长多万字的语料库,由于它依赖于计算机技术变成自己。

 

In China,interest in the use of language corpora and computer analysis tools for languageEducation has grown remarkably in the past decade. As the rapid development ofelectronic publishing in our country, very large corpus has been created in the middleof 1990s
However,the corpus obviously has its limitation: (1) it shows nothing more than itsown contents, (2) it offers evidence but cannot give information, (3) it does not giveinformation about if something is possible or not,only if it is frequent or not. (Sinclair,1991) Therefore, it is very meaningful to develop the modem corpus. Over the last 25years, there have been four major developmental trends in corpus design andconstruction (Stubbs, 1996). Firstly, the scale of corpus expands from small to large;second,the type of corpus shifts from synchronic to diachronic; thirdly, the implication of corpus changes from “designed” to “large amounts of text,,; fourthly,the content of corpus changes from single-focused to multi-dimension. Due to a rapiddevelopment of high-technology industry, the corpus in education becomes moremature, which has two major effects on the English teaching. (Sinclair, 2001) First ofall, new descriptions of language are given by the corpus so the class teaching contentinnovates conspicuously. Secondly, new language teaching materials are produced bythe corpus so the basis for new approaches to syllabus design and to methodology canbe formed.
There is no denying that the present studies provide important information forlanguage teachers. However,teachers may get the impression that these Referencesrepresent the only ways that language corpus could be useful to them. On the contrary,the growing field of corpus linguistics offers much more for teachers who want tounderstand language use and design effective materials for their students. In fact,evenif teachers do not have computer expertise or computer facilities in their schools,corpus-based studies can be valuable resources for them.The previous corpus-based teaching addressed to teachers has commonly beenconstrained in two ways. Firstly, most of the references for teachers stick tosmall-scale analyses. Usually, a small collection of texts that often compiled byconvenience rather than following a principled design is used, and analyses typicallyconsist of looking at all the occurrences of a certain word or reading a transcript fromthe corpus.
