摘要:English articles are the most frequently-used words in English discourse. The definitearticle “the” ranked as the most frequently-used word and the indefinite article “a”ranked number five (Master, 2002: 332).
Chapter 5 Data Analysis and Discussion
5.1 Results and Analysis of the Test Data
There are four parts of this section: an analysis of the data from first part of the articletest (filling in the blanks); an analysis of the data from the other part of the article test(writing); an analysis of the results from the student-oriented interview; an analysis of theresults from the teacher-oriented interview. Various forms and graphs which stand for thedata from the perspectives of the article accuracy with the purpose of displaying what thepresent situation of junior high school students’ mastery of the rules in using Englisharticles are. From this form, it is concluded that the overall proficiency to master English articlesis not good enough for the English learning. The mastery level has been advancing alongwith the English proficiency. The overall situation was unsatisfactory; all grade accuracywas just over 50%, indicating that the English article studying and mastering by juniorhigh school students need to be strengthened.

Conclusion
Based on the above analysis of the collected data and interviews, it was concludedsuch findings during the study As for the understanding on the functions of English articles by junior high schoolstudents was shown below:According to the study, it was found that junior high school students only know theform of English articles (“the” and “a/an”) but not deep meaning and functions. The basicknowledge of the English system was acquired by junior high students increased alongwith the proficiency as well as the accuracy of mastering the rules in using Englisharticles. As for the present situation about mastering the rules in using English articles byjunior high school students was that:The junior high school students’ mastery of the rules in using English articles was notgood as required.According to the results from data analysis above (see Form5-2 and Form5-5), amongthese three words, the zero article, indefinite article and definite article, the definitearticle was mastered the best for junior high school students, while the zero articles wasgrasped the worst.The English system was mastered better with the active ability than that with thepassive ability.
