Argument about multicultural society

As we know, there are more than 2000 peoples and more than 200 countries and regions in the world. Many countries have more than one nation such as China, America, Canada, Australia, etc. .When we talk about multi-ethnic society, there are often two other words come to our mind and they are multiculturalism and multi-nationalism. These two concepts well exemplify what a multi-ethnic country is. All in all, in order to deal with problems involved in multiculturalism and multi-nationalism, a lot of effective skills and methods should be worked out and be put into operation systematically by leaders.

Multiculturalism is a specific product generated in a specific time. It is closely connected with the changes of society including family, marriage, religion, education, ethnic relationships and so on. “Multiculturalism” first generated from Canada. Like other immigrant countries, Canada had experienced national assimilation，but at last due to the great changes of immigration structure and the strong resistance of French Canadian , Canada government canceled the policy of racial discrimination. In 1971, Canada drew up the policy of multiculturalism，the core of this policy is to admit those ethnic culture’s existence and acknowledge their contributions, against racial discrimination，ethnic discrimination and advocate ethnic equality and unity.

As different multi-ethnic countries have different history, cultural background, levels of economic development and social system， they take different measures and make different policies. Such as China lay down the ethnic regional autonomy system and set up five autonomous regions；Australian as well as Canada make the policy of multiculturalism； Mexico and other Latin American countries practice the policy of cultural globalization. In fact, multi-ethnic groups are the foundation of a multicultural society. Different nations have different cultures. A multicultural society has many ethnic groups and each ethnic group has different culture, they combine together and form a multicultural society. So the multi-ethnic groups or the multination is the basic factor to form a multicultural society. As a multicultural country, it is very important to deal with culture and relationships of different ethnic groups. Australia has many immigrant groups all over the world and these immigrant groups bring their language, religion and culture with them. The gold rush fashion began in the early 1850s when many immigrants came to Australia and after world war Ⅱ; many more people immigrated to Australia. These immigrant groups lead to the great change in the composition of Australia’s inhabitants. By 2010, June 16, the total population of Australia is: 22,386,136 (2238 million), most of which are European settlers and other large immigrant groups came from the United Kingdoms, Italy, Vietnam, New Zealand and China.
