Word can be treated as a general term and as a specific term. Word is a grammaticalunit. The grammar of a particular language contains a set of layers, and word is one of them.Hatch and Brown (2001) defines vocabulary as 'a list or set of words for a particularlanguage or a list or a set of words that individual speakers of a language might use.' As far asDavid Nunan (2005) is concerned, vocabulary is more than lists of target language words. Asa part of the language system, vocabulary is intimately interrelated with grammar.
