Wu Yongjun(2011) states that the learning plan guided teaching model accords with the demands of our country’s education and the Curriculum Reform, and at the same time it confirms to the law of teaching and learning. It shows that the learning plan has a great prospect. As there are many applications of the learning plan in different subjects, what’s the current situation of the application of the English learning plan in junior middle schools? This
thesis aims to find answers to this question and hope to provide more information for the education researchers. The significance of this research are as follows: Firstly, the research for the learning plan is for the purpose of the implementing of the national curriculum standard. The eighth curriculum reform for English in China mentioned that students’ English learning activities should not be confined to a small limit of reception, memorization, imitating and practice. The students should be encouraged to do self exploration and cooperative work in the class. In the process of implementing the curriculum standard, there are both successful and the failed examples, and the experience of which can give us the courage and the inspiration. For example, the preparation-display-feedback teaching model in Dulangkou Middle School, the lecture teaching model in Donglu middle school and the guide and comment teaching model in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, all of which are relied on the learning plan and emphasize independent and cooperative study of students. The proposal of the learning plan is due to the humanistic spirit in which the students are the center. It demands that in the teaching process, our teachers should take how the teachers teach and how the students learn into consideration, which is the distillation of the new curriculum reform and fully embodies the concept of the new curriculum. The learning plan guided teaching model, produced in the practice of the classroom teaching, is a kind of new teaching concept attracting more and more attention from the education researchers.
