摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,笔者主要采用问卷调查法、测试法和访谈法进行定量与定性相结合的研究方法,并以武汉市Y中学八年级两个平行班级的学生为研究对象,开展了为期三个月的教学实验。

Chapter 2 Literature Review

2.1 Studies of Lexical Chunks at Home and Abroad

2.1.1Definition of Lexical Chunks

With the development of corpus linguistics and cognitive linguistics,the role of lexicalchunks in linguistics and language teaching has been paid more and more attention.SinceJesperson(1924)proposed the concept of'program language',the history of foreign lexicalchunks research has been nearly one hundred years.And Chinese research has also beenrapidly developed in the past two decades.Admittedly,the theory of lexical chunks teachingand language skills was first developed by foreign scholars.

George A.Miller(1956),who is one of the founders of American psychologists andcognitive scientists,first introduced the psychological term'lexical chunks'in memory.Becker(1975)first concretized the definition of lexical chunks.According to Becker,lexicalchunks are combinations of words that are completely preserved in the brain.After repetition,processing,and integration,he used'prefabricated phrases'as an alternative expression for'lexical chunks'.Then,Nattiger and De Carrico(1992)proposed that lexical chunks aremultiple phenomena between traditional vocabulary and syntax.Like lexical words,they arepresented as a whole;further than words,they are often composed of multiple regular wordsand conform to grammatical and syntactic rules.

2.2 Lexical Chunks Teaching and English Writing at Home andAbroad

2.2.1 The Application of Lexical Chunks Teaching to English Writing

In the past two decades,linguists and educators at home and abroad have done a lot ofin-depth research on lexical chunks from the perspective of teaching.Howarth(1998)believes that lexical chunks can be stored in the form of a whole,and this feature can serveas a framework for building texts of various themes.Specifically,in the experiment,researchers believe that lexical chunks are an important unit of language processing and playa positive role in improving students'writing ability.

Later,Biber(2009)argued that lexical chunks can help students extract and conveyimportant information in a short time with the fastest speed.Therefore,lexical chunks canalso run through the teaching of English writing and improve students'writing levels to someextent.Kazemi(2014)exported some lexical chunks to Iranian students in an empirical study to explore whether the learning of lexical chunks has an effect on students'writingskills.In the same year,Malek Mhedhbi(2014)conducted a study on the effectiveness oflexical chunks awareness in improving business writing.He found a significant difference inwriting scores between the experimental and control groups in relation to the use of lexicalchunks.Most of the students believed that the use of lexical chunks improved their writingand all had positive attitudes toward the use of lexical chunks.At the same time,SaraSalehpour(2014)applied prefabricated language chunks to the teaching and guidance ofstudents through empir论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
