But trees would grow up again soon, so he could never stop cutting, year after year. In all, time vanished away, no advance, no change, and the space was fixed. Chang-O, the beautiful girl, didn't fell any happy from then on. She was lonely and sorrowful ,as a poem wrote1
The candle casts deep shadows on the screen,
The milky way dims and morning stars fade.
Chang-O must regret stealing the elixir,
As she broots in loneliness night after night.
In Chinese poem, the moon was always considered to be a symbol of eternity and loneliness. It could shine upon the disturbing human world and the transient life. One of the most famous poem of Li Po《把酒问月》discribe the moon follow:2
白兔捣药秋复春,嫦娥孤栖与谁邻?
今人不见古时月,今月曾经照古人。
古人今人若流水,共看明月皆如此。
唯愿当歌对酒时,月光长照金樽里。
It's impossible for people at present to see the moon in ancient times. Compared to the universe, the life was only an inconsiderable moment. However, through its eternity, the moon had shined people at different times: in the past, at present and in the future. For thousands of years, the human beings have been helpless while facing the contradiction between the ancient life and the eternal universe. Every time, we read Li Po's poem, we would think of him who lived under the moon together with us at another time. It's the same that Li Po would think of his older generation who also appreciated the while wrote the poems. Owing to the unsolved, common worry and helpless, the poet connected the unseen people in the past with the unknown people in the future by means of the moon, the eternal media. The result was making them surpassed the time, linked up and response sympathetically. In the end, they somehow reached the eternity.
In all his life, Li Po insisted to connecting his pursuit for the eternity with the moon. One of his best-known poems, Drink Alone Under The Moon, wrote: Amid the bower of flowers there is a pot of wine, I drink alone without a friend of mine. Raising up my cup, I invite the moon to drink with me. My shadow being lingering, we are altogether three. “In the absolute loneliness late at night, she was accompanied by the eternal moon and his own shadow. Although there is merry communication among the three, it's just a transient moment.” The moon floats up and down joining my song, with my dance, the shadow in a mess pace along. Sober minded, we are all happy and open-hearted. Being drunken, we farewell to one ano ther and de parted. “Li Po looked forward to the love beyond the human world and the moon he cherished, with the hope of them meeting above the faraway the Milky Way. It's embodied at the end of the poem: Our everlasting enjoyment can only be fond, The Heaven faraway with Galaxy all around.” It's said Li Po died from being drunken and jumping into the river to gain the moon. He sacrificed himself and returned to the eternity.

Selene, the moon goddess in Greek mythology, was a beautiful girl. She ran in the sky every day by riding a shining carriage led by a pair of white horses, wearing wings and golden crown. In the end, she disappeared in the Aceanus River. In the works of the Greek poetess Safu, Selene was described as a beautiful girl who held a torch in her hand with a group of stars behind her. The moon goddess fell in love with a handsome boy Endymion, an ordinary human whose life was short. God could keep Endymion young forever, as Selene loved him. However, Endymion must sleep without waking up. Thus, the moon goddess came
