ually speaking, defining meta-cognition is notthat simple since there is much debate over exactly what meta-cognition is. So far,there is no authorized definition for meta-cognition, different views are listed asfollows.Flavell (1976) defines meta-cognition as “one's knowledge concerning one's owncognitive process and products or anything related to them, e.g., the learning-relevantproperties of information or data" and “the active monitoring and consequentregulation and orchestration of these processes in relation to the cognitive objects ordata on which they bear, usually in the service of some concrete goal or objective.”According to Flavell (1979), meta-cognition is further defined as the experiencesand knowledge we have about our own cognitive process. In other words,meta-cognition is made up of two parts: meta-cognitive knowledge andmeta-cognitive experience.
