摘要:本研究对于外语教学有一定的启发。研究结果启发学校、老师、以及学生自身等方面对于研究生这一特殊群体的外语学习应给应有的关注,对于他们的英语学习焦虑现状采取有效地教育教学对策。

All these pending questions make thisstudy necessary.Significance of the ResearchFor those postgraduates of science, pressure of English is obvious in thegraduating year when they are preparing for job hunting or doctoral entranceexaminations. Given they can only attend English classes for a year and that there isstill a gap between current English level and desire for excellent English competence,this paper comes up with four hypotheses from the perspective of students themselves,aims to verify these hypotheses through an in-depth empirical investigation, analyzesreceived results, and draws conclusions based on research findings. This research is tomake these postgraduates realize the fact of language anxiety, help them face squarelyfuture-related communication anxiety and test anxiety, lead them to pay moreattention to the English language anxiety, and stimulate responses and actions fromthe university, English teachers, and students themselves to improve students’ Englishcompetence and guarantee them a better future.Structure of the PaperThis paper is made up of three chapters in a clear and logical way. Chapter Oneis about literature review on anxiety by introducing the psychological explanation ofanxiety, classifications of anxiety, and anxiety in the field of second languageacquisition. The last part is the most important in this chapter. After a briefintroduction of affective factors and Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis, studies onlanguage anxiety are specified.Since this paper is more a quantitative study on communication anxiety and testanxiety in the process of English learning, Chapter Two then touches on themethodology used in this paper by giving a specific idea of research questions,research hypotheses, research subjects, questionnaires administered to subjects, andhow statistical data are collected and analyzed.Chapter Three is about presenting research results and discussions of thelanguage anxiety of second-year postgraduates of science in Shandong PolytechnicUniversity—subjects of this research. In this chapter, specific well-organized figureswill be displayed directly to show statistical results, and implied meanings will beanalyzed and explained. First, this chapter gives communication anxiety analysis andtest anxiety analysis of students receiving further education and concludes theirEnglish language anxiety. Then, it gives communication anxiety analysis and testanxiety analysis of students deciding to work and also concludes their Englishlanguage anxiety. After that, both communication anxiety comparison and test anxietycomparison between these two types of students are drawn for further PearsonCorrelation analysis. At last, this chapter analyzes these students’ anxiety symptomsand makes the conclusion.After analysis of and discussion on research results and findings, conclusion ofthe English language anxiety of second-year postgraduates of science in ShandongPolytechnic University can therefore be drawn. The Conclusion part describes majorfindings of this study, theoretical and methodological implications based on this study,and recommendations for future research.
