Chapter Four Data analysis

Data  collected  in  the  experiment  is  analyzed  in  this  chapter.  The  answer  of  the  first question can be testified by the comparison of the questionnaire and the interview, and the answer of the second can get from the analysis of the tests. 

4.1 Data analysis of the questionnaires 

The  questionnaire(Appendix  I)  was  designed  to  investigate  whether  Formative Assessment  can  alter  students’  attitude  towards  English  reading  learning.  The  same questionnaire  was  carried  out  to  the  participants  both  in  CC  and  EC  before  and  after  the experiment. From  Table  4.1,  32%  of  the  students  before  the  experiment  and  30%  after  the experiment  in  CC  believe  that reading  is  useful  for  English expression, which  is  showing no  obvious  difference.  From  Q2,  34%  of  the  students  in  CC  consider  that  reading  is  an important  part  of  English  learning and after the experiment, the  percentage  of  CC  is  only 37%. From Q3, 31% of the students have confidence in reading learning in CC. And after the  experiment,  the  percentage  of  CC  is  only  32%.  The  data  shows  that  the  students’ cognition about the English reading has no obvious change through traditional method.
