, it is found that those Confucian words in most C-E Dictionaries for  CEL  are  not  labeled  clearly  or  even  their  Confucian  meanings  are  not  recorded, which  is  not  convenient  for  Chinese  English  learners  and  translators  to  learn  and spread traditional culture. For this reason, this thesis will focus on these words with Confucian background in C-E Dictionaries for CEL. As is known, C-E Dictionaries can be divided into two different types according to  their  users—C-E  Dictionaries  for  CEL  and  C-E  Dictionaries  for  foreigners,  in other  words,  internal  oriented  dictionaries  and  external  oriented  dictionaries.  This thesis  will  make  its  research  from the perspective of the Chinese  learners  and translators,  so  it  chooses  three  C-E  Dictionaries  for  CEL:  Chinese-English Dictionary  (CED)  made  by  Wu  Guanghua,  A  New  Century  Chinese-English Dictionary  (NCCED)  and  New  Age  Chinese-English  Dictionary  2nd  edition (NACED). The microstructure of a dictionary refers to the structure of its entries. The entry is  the  basic  structural  and  functional  unit  of  a  dictionary,  and  all  these  entries constitute  the  main  part  of  a  dictionary.  Each  entry  of  a  dictionary  is  composed  of two  parts  in  a  general  way:  the  headword  and  its  explanatory  articles.  No  matter monolingual  dictionaries  or  bilingual  dictionaries,  their  headwords  and  explanatory articles depend on the aim of compilation and their users.

2.1 Terms in the Present Study
As  we  know,  dictionaries  can  be  divided  into  encyclopedic  ones  and  linguistic ones, general ones and special language ones, monolingual ones and bilingual ones. The  difference  between  linguistic  dictionaries  and  encyclopedic  ones  is  the  content, with  the  former  focusing  on  the  linguistic  information  of  headwords  like  spelling, pronunciation,  meaning,  usage,  and  so  on  and  the  latter  mainly  paying  attention  to extra-linguistic  things  like  scientific  knowledge.  General  dictionaries  are  concerned with  almost  all  vocabulary  and  can  be  used  by  people  in  every  walk  of  life.  While special  language  dictionaries  shapes  around  a  discipline  as  their  entry  words.
