摘要:In Wordsworth’s The Daffodils, the fluttering and dancing daffodils disclose the inner world of Wordsworth. His heart is still adhering to the secular world. In Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope, the blooming flowers in the deep valley disclose the inner world of Wang Wei thoroughly.

hor’s eye. Suddenly a host of golden daffodils came into the poet’s eyes, they gripped the poet. Then several phrases “beside the lake”, “beneath the trees”, “in the breeze”, “fluttering”, and “dancing”, describe the position of the flowers and display the carriage of the daffodils dancing in the breeze: “Beside the lake, beneath the trees / Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.”
In the second stanza of the poem, the poet portrays the daffodils specifically.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay,
Then thousand saw I at glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The lifelike description forms a colorful and vivid picture: the daffodils set against the green silk like earth, dazzling and beautiful as the stars.
In the third stanza, the poet emphasizes the joy of the daffodils. Meanwhile, the emphasis is on the feelings and the emotions of the poet at that time. The poet switched his view to the lake, where grow the daffodils, comparing the dancing daffodils to the dancing waves:
The waves beside them danced; but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee,
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company,
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought.
In the last stanza, the poet recollected the influences what the daffodils had brought to him. Now, the daffodils have already been a part the poet’s memory, but they reappear into the poet’s eyes.
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mind,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
The whole poem depicts the beauty of the daffodils with motion integrated with stillness as the background. It displays a landscape painting with motion and stillness integrated fiercely.
2.2 Magnolia Slope
Lotus blossoms adrift out across treetops
Flaunt crimson calyces among mountains.
In the cottage beside this stream, quiet, no one
Here. scattered, scattered, blooming and falling.
The poet chooses magnolia as the main image of the poem. These kinds of flowers have two kinds of colors, red and white. Furthermore the flowers described in this poem are red. In the first sentence, poet figures out the image of this poem directly, that is lotus blooming on treetops.
In the second sentence, poet portrays the manners of the flowers vividly. They are blooming silently among mountains and embellishing the mountains.
In the third sentence, the poet’s eye is switched to the still cottage. Such kind of stillness gives prominence to the blooming flowers.
In the last sentence, poet’s eye goes back to the flowers, at this moment, the blooming flowers are falling. Such scene makes us feel more desolately.
The whole poem depicts the magnolia flower blooming in the deep valley with stillness serving as the background.

Ⅲ. The Comparison of Wordsworth’s The Daffodils and Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope
3.1 The connotation of the Main Image-Flower in the Poem
In Wordsworth’s The Daffodils and Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope, flower is out of question the main image, so the interpretation of the connotation of the flowers is the key p论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
