摘要:In Wordsworth’s The Daffodils, the fluttering and dancing daffodils disclose the inner world of Wordsworth. His heart is still adhering to the secular world. In Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope, the blooming flowers in the deep valley disclose the inner world of Wang Wei thoroughly.

ely as a cloud / that floats on high o’er vales and hills” reveals one of the features that is “A sense of melancholy and loneliness”.
Moreover, many figures of speech are applied in The Daffodils, such as personification, exaggeration, simile and metaphor. These rhetorical devices give a more vivid and lively description of the daffodils. Therefore, readers can be easily touched by the joyful daffodils, could not but be gay in such a jocund company. In this poem, every gesture of the daffodils is disclosed vividly. The poet shows readers a vivid picture scroll on expressing his own burning passion for nature. The gorgeous languages and rhetorical devices increase the charm of the poem.
Wordsworth’s emotion is totally and directly disclosed in his poems; therefore, readers can easily read the poet’s heart and be touched by him.
3.4.2 Feelings Concealed in Wang Wei’s Poem
Wang Wei’s writing style is plain and placid; varying from Wordsworth’s complicated writing style. In Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope, he describes a quiet deep valley where grow the magnolia flowers. Such peaceful scenery makes readers unable to read the poet’s heart. The poet’s joy and sorrow are not displayed in the poem directly. Thus, readers can hardly be attracted.
Meanwhile, there are not any rhetorical devices being used in the poem. So Wang’s description may be not as vivid as Wordsworth’s. The carriage of the flowers is not completely unfolded to readers; we can only see the quiet side of the flowers without knowing its flourishing side. In Wordsworth’s The Daffodils, every side of the daffodils is unfolded to the readers. This is a shortage of Wang’s poems. Maybe this is also the conservative side of all the Chinese poets.
Temperance and conservative are the distinct features of the Chinese people; such features are completely embodied in Wang’s poems, forming a distinct contrast with Wordsworth’s poems.

Ⅳ Fascination of the Poems
In Wordsworth’s The Daffodils, the fluttering and dancing daffodils disclose the inner world of Wordsworth. His heart is still adhering to the secular world. His body belongs to nature, while his soul belongs to the secular world. Therefore, he can hardly find the true pleasure from nature; he can only gain pleasure from the dancing daffodils for a moment.
In Wang Wei’s Magnolia Slope, the blooming flowers in the deep valley disclose the inner world of Wang Wei thoroughly. His heart belongs to nature absolutely. He has really relieved himself from reality. He really gains the eternal pleasure from nature.
Both of the two poets return to nature for seeking pleasure and discovering the true meaning of life. In The Daffodils, Wordsworth finds comforts and pleasure from clamor; while in Magnolia Slope, Wang Wei finds comforts and pleasure from tranquility.
Wang Wei surpasses William Wordsworth on the spiritual realm, while Wordsworth exceeds Wang Wei on the writing technique.
According to Wang Wei, the whole world is just like the magnolia flower, alternating in the moment of birth and death, which evolves naturally. Wang Wei seemingly has seen the eternity of Buddhist Anticipation. Buddhist Anticipation is the naturalness of the whole world. Meanwhile, it shows the purification of Wang’s inner world, the pure Buddha nature in his heart. This artistic conception and attitude towards life is worth learning.
