vernmental ties with the United States when it comes to the policy of oil. Since the United States is unable to control oil policy in Sudan the United States has made every attempt in trying to stop the development of oil in Sudan even though a country like China is attempting to further Sudan’s progress in expanding its oil production. China has supplied Sudan with the necessary technology for tracking the oil, the necessary drilling equipment, and they built a pipeline for the oil. China is Sudan’s leading buyer of oil, so they are providing them with all that they need so that China would be able to continue to purchase oil from Sudan. [3] Other than just for the sole purpose of ending genocide the US could be involving them in the conflict in Darfur for the purpose of having another oil manufacturer since Sudan has such a large reserve at their dispose.

All of the violence that took place in Darfur began in the early months of the year 2003. Thousands of people were dying every day and it took the United States all of the way until July of 2003 to take any type of action towards the situation. On July 22, 2003 the United States Congress labeled the violence going on in Darfur as genocide. Congress urged President George Bush to do the same, but labeling this situation as genocide would require under the International Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide for the United States to take immediate actions on ending the crisis. It would not be until July of 2003 for the United States government and the rest of the international community to take any type of action towards the crisis in Darfur. On July 30, 2003 the United States drafted a resolution for the United Nations Security Council which gave the government of Sudan government thirty days to disarm the Sudanese militias and to take actions to prosecute the Janjaweed and Arab militias for the actions taken towards the people in the Darfur area. The actions that the United States and the United Nations threatened the Sudanese government if they were not to follow the requested resolution within the thirty days it is that they will place sanctions on the state of Sudan. [4] According for Colum Lynch’s article U.N. Adopts Resolution on Sudan, 'The resolution, in stern and unambiguous terms, puts the government of Sudan on notice that it must fulfill the commitments it made,' said John C. Danforth, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. 'Sudan must know that serious measures -- international sanctions -- are looming, if the government refuses to do so.' [5] This resolution would be the beginning of the actions made by the United States responding to the conflict going on in the Darfur region of Sudan.

After one year of engagement in resolving the issues in Darfur it is evident that the United States was heavily engaged in ending this problem. Within this first year of engagement the United States would contribute nearly three hundred million dollars to the crisis. During this first year the United States would send almost seventy four thousand tons of food to the World Food Program for Darfur. The total contribution to the World Food Program for Darfur is worth sixty one million dollars. In addition, during May of 2004 the United State论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
