Conclusion

Since the theme of this study is about Dialogicality and radio English news, it provesnecessary to carry out an investigation into the theory of the dialogic ideas and the systemof mass media news. Naturally, Bakhtin's Dialogue Theory lays an important foundationfor the whole study in that it promotes wide concern with this particular issue of dialogue，which forms the backdrop of the discussion. According to this theory, dialogue isubiquitous and essential for human existence and all communications. It permeates in allaspects of our lives including not only the direct face-to-face verbal interaction betweentwo or more individuals, but also the indirect，nonverbal exchanges for the sake of mutualunderstanding; in other words，it is related with all human behaviors that always involvethe sending and answering of messages.Narrowing down these perceptions to the scope of radio English news, the studymakes attempts to give a general: introduction to media and news, outlining the basiccharacteristics of news language and differentiating radio broadcast news from print news.It is argued that radio EngKsh news shows profound differences in multiple areas such asthe basic vocabulary, sentence structures etc. That's why we would not consider radioEnglish news reports as displaying exactly the same properties as print news.
Inspired by the dialogic ideas, the analyses of resources of intersubjective stance arefrom linguistic perspective in their focus, drawing on Appraisal framework as a functionalmodel of language at the level of discourse semantics. A broad-brush overview is providedof the system which covers all evaluative usage of language and which deals with theseconcerns of how news authors adopt positive or negative attitudes and how they negotiatethese attitudinal inclinations with actual or putative dialogic partners. From this theoreticalpoint of departure, the main purpose of the thesis is to instantiate the inherent dialogicpotential of utterances within the contexts of radio news reports through the employmentof Engagement resources which help adjust the author's investment and negotiatesolidarity in terms of the propositions and proposals.
