摘要:In China, it is stated by the current Middle School English Curriculum Standardsthat the purpose of teaching reading is, first of all, “to train students to read moreefficiently and to develop students’ appropriate habit and strong interest in reading”.

ts who could not do well in theirEnglish learning process. As for the English learning, reading plays a very importantrole in English learning. If the unsuccessful learners want to improve their English,reading strategy becomes a good point to achievement, which makes reading strategya research focus for many researchers. According to Li Xianlin, Zhang Shuqing(2008:2), the unsuccessful learners referto the students with learning difficulties, and their level of intelligence is normal, butbecause of some special physical and psychological reasons, they fail to show theirlearning potential in learning or are not suitable to the conventional learning, whichleads that they temporarily fall behind in academic study. I believe that the so-calledunsuccessful learner is the student with normal level of intelligence who fails keepingup with the learning process and finally was left behind by the fellow students due toa variety of internal or external reasons in a certain period of learning.

2.2 Schema Theory
Schema,which is one of the terms in the cognitive psychology,was firstlyproposed by the philosopher Immannel Kant. Contrary to the traditionalexperientialism and rationalism, he established the intellective process between theperceptual experiences and rational ability. However, during this intellectual process,our schema plays the leading role. The concept of schema defined by Kant was theformal and pure perceptual condition of restricting the application of the intellectualconcept. The intellectual process in these schema was called as schema theory of thepure intellectuality(Kant, 1781).In the early 1900, the notion of schema theory was introduced to psychologicalfield by Dr Piaget, a child psychologist in Switzerland. In 1932, schema theory wasdeveloped to a great extent by British psychologist Frederic Charles Bartlett byapplying it into the research of memory and knowledge structure. He expressed thatschema is a kind of storing way in people’s background knowledge, the activeresponse of the minds to the past experience, and the process of old informationworking on newly acquired information, and also the process of new informationcoming into the learner's knowledge base(Bartlett, 1932).
