Compared with the traditional reading teachingmethod, English reading teaching based on mind map is easier to help students toconstruct knowledge system systematically and cultivate comprehensive language ability,thus providing theoretical support for constructing a teaching model of mind map. Thenew model is more scientific, more applicable and more considered for the long-termdevelopment of students. By exploring the theoretical basis of mind map in teaching, wecan excavate constructivism theory and modern brain science theory, and the theoreticalsupport of knowledge visualization theory in the application of mind map to Englishreading teaching practice.

Its academic significance lies in filling the research gap of mind map in the scope ofart and physical education, and preparing for further investigation and research.


Chapter 2 Literature Review


2.1 Connotation of mind map

The mind map is to show the knowledge in people's minds in the form of charts, sothat the boring knowledge becomes a concrete image of the thinking scattered map, andthe mind map is drawn in the process of drawing. It is also drawn according to theprinciple of center diffusion, thus forming a hierarchical tree map. In the teaching of mindmap, different article genres can choose different composition types. The commonly usedcomposition types are as follows: brainstorming map, hierarchical structure map,induction map, chain map and cycle map.

2.1.1 Meaning and characteristics of mind map

In the 1970s, British psychologist Tony Buzan invented the mind map, which caneffectively use the brain, and introduced it to readers for the first time in the book Startthe brain. The mind map can reflect the radioactive thinking in the human brain, andconnect the thoughts about the theme of the article in the human brain with a richhierarchical map through the form of pictures and texts, thus establishing the connectionbetween the themes. It can give full play to the function of the left and right brain andstimulate the potential of people's memory, reading and thinking.

Mind maps are also called mind maps or brain maps because they simulate theneural network structure of the human brain and present a structure map that diffusesfrom center to periphery. The mind map is composed of theme, color and image, which expresses and embodies the network structure diagram of relevant knowledge from theperspective of multi-dimensional(1999). The mind map takes a central point as the axis,diffuses around the central point, forms the related sub-nodes, and extends endlesslyaround it. Each node is related to or close to the image content of the previous node. Thenumber of nodes indicates the degree of divergence, and the depth of thought can bedetermined from the length of a branch. In this way, the mind map turns our boring andtasteless language knowledge into an image, color, and specific thinking divergence map,and this tree map coincides with our brain thinking, so that we can remember and processinformation(2004).


2.2 Theoretical basis of mind map
