1.1 Background of the Study
未来的社会是一个学习型的社会,获取易学整个生命和不断自我发展的人。为了实现终身教育,人们必须培养自主学习能力,独立的教师和教室。 ,正如罗杰斯(1969:104)说:“谁是教育的唯一的人是男人谁已学会如何LEAM的。”与此同时,在外语教育领域,重点已转向从教师的教学以学习者学习。因此,近年来,越来越多的关注已经支付给学习者在英语教学和学习的自主权。研究生教育是我国高等教育体系的重要组成部分,科学和教育科教兴国战略的实施有直接的关系。然而,近年来,招研究生规模的不断扩大和增加研究生招收类别,它已成为一个不争的事实,研究生教育质量下降的趋势变得越来越严重。虽然研究生导师的数量也不断增加,近年来,状态并没有快速增长研究生,指导不足顶部OST毕业生,不要说教师的帮助下自主学习能力的培养。在这样一个严峻的形势下,研究生的培养学习者自主性就显得尤为迫切。
The futuresociety is a continuing learning society which acquires people to leam throughout lifeand to self-develop unceasingly. In order to realize life-long Education,people have tocultivate the autonomous learning ability independent of teachers and classrooms. Justas Rogers (1969:104) says “the only man who is educated is the man who has learnedhow to leam.” At the same time, in the field of foreign language education, the focushas shifted from teachers' teaching to learners' learning. Therefore, in recent years,more and more attention has been paid to learner autonomy in English teaching andlearning.The postgraduate education is an important part of our country's highereducational system and has direct relation to the implementation of the strategy ofrejuvenating the country through science and education. However, in recent years,with the expanding of postgraduate recruit scale and the increasing of postgraduaterecruit category, it has become an indisputable fact that the quality of postgraduateeducation is declining and has the trend of becoming more and more serious. Thoughthe number of postgraduate supervisors has also been increasing in recent years, it isnot growing as fast as that of postgraduates, which leads to insufficient guidance topostgraduates,not to speak of the cultivation of autonomous learning ability with thehelp of teachers. Under such a serious situation, the cultivation of postgraduates'learner autonomy becomes especially urgent.
The rapid development of scicnce and technology has not only broughtknowledge explosion but also accelerated the development of globalization, whichmakes English, an inlernalional language, more important. As one of the four basiclanguage skills. English listening is of primary importance For the acquisition of English. Just as Morley (1991:82) states: “we can expect to listen twice as much as wespeak, four times more than we read, and five times more than we write." Nowadays,English listening is being given more and more stress. With the reform of CET 4 andCET 6 into full operation in 2007, English listening comprehension makes up as highas 35% of the whole test. However, despite of the important role of listening in thesecond language acquisition, the postgraduates have English listening class only oncea week on average, which is obviously far from enough for learning the Englishlistening well. In order to master English listening skills, the autonomous learning ofEnglish listening seems to become a main way to make up the shortage of class time.


1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Study
By studying the English listening learner autonomy and self-efficacy of first-yearnon-English major postgraduates, this thesis aims to help students improve theirEnglish listening autonomous learning ability, strengthen their confidence in Englishlistening learning and make their autonomous learning of English listening moreeffective.
