4 Results and Discussion


4.1 Results from the Investigation
The results are collected in a month, the following 2 parts are displayed to give acomprehensive view of the five factors. The results of this questionnaires are analyzed fromthe five factors respetively. Furthermore, as mentioned in the abstract, the author have anopportunity to observe the condition in their English classes presently. The second part of 4.1are concerned about the results of that. After the collection of the questionnaires, the author is engaged in analyzing the data indifferent perpective. In regard to each factor, this part diplay the details of them. From Table 4.1, we can get that the descriptive data of the total score for ISS and fivefactors of it, we can see that the overall situation of the subjects’ICS accurately, whosemaximum score is 91 and the minimum score is 57. In addition, the mean of S1, S1, S2, S3,S4 and S5 is 22.45, 19.36, 15.31, 6.74 and11.11.In addition, from the Table 4.1, we can see that there is a big disparity between theminimum and the maximum of S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5 respectively, in other words theparticipants in the same college also can be in radically different condition in each factor.However, from the data collection, the data shows that though some students' answersvary from each other so much while most students' scores fall on certain range of 65-80,which indicates that most of them approach the average score.

Conclusion


1) The Non-English majors in this college are weak in communicating with people fromdifferent cultures. In other words, they have to admit that the level of their interculturalcommunicative competence is fairly low. Furthermore, the results of questionnaires vary fromeach other in a large degree owing to individual differences in the levels of their interculturalsensitivity.
2) The majority of the sudents lack confidence and understanding in different cultures ,which have become bottlenecks and grave impediments to their effective interculturalcommunication in the spite of the fact that they desire to enjoy a successful interaction
