The book The Science of Nutrition was first published on the U.S.PenguinRandom House in 2021.It imparts knowledge of nutrition,covering everyconceivable topic—from gut bacteria to weight management to heart health andimmune support to vegan diets and intermittent fasting(and everything in between).The author,Rhiannon Lambert,one of the UK’s leading nutritionists,a best-sellingwriter and chart-topping podcast host,is special in weight management,sports nutrition,gut health,eating disorders,and pre-and post-natal nutrition.

1.2 Introduction to the Selected Text

The selected text includes chapterⅠ(What is nutrition)and first ten parts ofchapterⅡ(How can I eat well)of the book,10614 words in total without officialtranslation.Two months have been spent to complete the translation.The first chapterintroduces nine definitions in the field of nutrition,covering the nutrition,carbohydrates,protein,fat and so on and also answers common questions.The secondchapter mainly talks about principles and types of healthy eating.

2 Process Description

2.1 Preparation Before Translation

In order to fulfill the translation task,the translator browsed through the Amazonpage and determined the medical popular science book,The Science of Nutrition,which is new on shelves and hasn’t been translated into Chinese.The following foursteps have been made before translation.

2.1.1 Comprehending the Whole Text
