1.4 Translation Studies of CL Guided by Eco-translatology

According to the research results on the CNKI website, in the previous studies,there are only two representative papers in the study of translation of children’sliterature from the approach of eco-translatology, one is Zhong Sheng’sEco-translatology in the Translation of Children’s Literature—A Study of TwoChinese Versions of Wind in the Willows, the other is Wang Aiqin and ChenGuangming’s On Ren Rongrong’s Translation of Children’s Literature: AnEco-translatological Perspective. As the first researcher that applies theEco-translatology into probing translation of children’s literature, Zhong Sheng,through the comparative study of two translation works, believes that “the translationof children’s literature can be studied from the angle of macroscopic view, theexcellent versions of translation of children’s literature will be the yield of practicingof eco-translatology.”, and his study is panoramic application of the eco-translatologyin the studies of translation of children’s literature. As to Wang and Chen’s study, theynarrow down their research to a certain translator, Ren Rongrong, though theydescribe how Ren’s translation of children’s literature thoughts can be explained bythe theory of eco-translatology by referring to three fundamental concepts, namely“doing things with translation”, “multi-dimensional transformations” and “naturalselection”, as for “multi-dimensional transformations”, which is also the key subjectin this thesis, they only cite two examples from Ren Rongrong’s translated texts tosupport their description, which seems insufficient to make their illustrationpersuasive. Enlightened by these two basic researches on the translation of children’sliterature within the theory of eco-translatology, the author will further expound howRen Rongrong’s translation thoughts and his representative translated texts of E.B.White’s children’s literature reflect the eco-translatological approach.
