eminism, Yan Yan (阎彦, 2011) explores the process of identity-seeking of Chinese American women who suffer from the gender oppression and racial oppression in the white-dominated society by analyzing the five female characters in The Woman Warrior. In A Study on The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston from the Perspective of Feminism, Bao Wei (包威,2012) analyzes Chinese-American woman’s awakening of feminist consciousness, their fighting against the patriarchal society as well as Kingston’s aspiration for equality. Chen Xiaohui (陈晓晖, 2007), in The Feminine Stage of Woman’s Writing within the Nowadays Chinese National Literature in U.S.A: the Interpretation of the Texts by Maxine Hong Kingston, Amy Tan and Yan Geling(《当代美国华人文学中的“她”写作》),analyzes the gender oppression and racial discrimination suffered by Chinese American women in the white dominated society on the basis of post-colonial feminism.

1.2 Previous Studies on Translation of The Woman Warrior
Compared with the studies of The Woman Warrior, the previous studies on translation of The Woman Warrior are relatively insufficient. After a comprehensive search of CNKI, the author of this thesis finds that there are less than five papers and not more than six theses concerning studies on translation of The Woman Warrior. And these studies are conducted from different perspectives.
(1) Perspective of Manipulation Theory
In the perspective of manipulation theory, Yang Qi (杨琦,2014) discusses the difficulties Chinese translators may encounter in translating The Woman Warrior as well as such factors as ideologies, aesthetics of reception and cultural background, which influence translators’ choices of translation strategies. Yang further points out that the two translators of The Woman Warrior, by adopting domestication, omission, addition and other translation strategies under the manipulation of those factors, have unconsciously presented the Chinese readers a dominant American culture and a relatively weak Chinese culture.
