In the context of macroeconomic policy,the advantage afforded by China’s soundautomobile industry chain has been further amplified under the impact of the pandemic.Inparticular,China’s automobile exports have been boosted by the development of newenergy vehicles(NEVs).Besides,related national policies including purchasing taxdeduction contribute to stimulating the consumption demand for NEVs.From theperspective of carmakers,they have risen to the difficulties and laid a solid foundation tomaintain sound and sustainable development with perfect technological reserves.Therefore,the English translation of maintenance manual is of great significance for the after-salesservice.It brings a reference to foreign automobile industry.

In addition to that,the rapid development of society makes various disciplinesinterpenetrate and intersect with each other.Exchanges between countries in many fieldshave also been closer,including politics,science and technology,economy,culture,andtrade.As international academic exchanges in the field of science and technology are infull swing,technical texts are gaining in importance.Compared with texts for dailycommunication,such texts are more complex and specialized.So translators need tochoose appropriate translation methods and strategies to deal with the difficultiesencountered during translation in order to assure translation quality.Furthermore,theemergence of Eco-translatology has specific guiding implications for the translation oftechnical texts.

1.2 Object and Method of the Report

Doubts about the creativity of translators in technical texts with fixed styles havearisen as machine translation(MT)technology matures increasingly.Indeed,machinetranslation has come a long way,but it’s still far from replacing the human touch.This report can be meaningful only when it is clear that the translation of technical texts stillneeds to be put into manpower.Given this,the report combines the research content andthe translator’s assignment during the internship,aiming for resolve the fundamentalcontradiction in translation process.The translation text is a part of the projectMaintenance Manual for XX New Energy Vehicles.This report selects the wheels and tires,braking system,and electric rear door system for the study.These parts introduce theprecautions,system description and operation,disassembly and detection,troubleshooting,and others in detail.The translation material in this report is selected from the firsthandmaterial of the translator’s translation practice.
