Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Research background
Fashion industries and fashion businesses are prosperous in the economy. Around US $350 billion was traded in the world and represented 7% of total world exports by the fashion industries in 2004, furthermore, the numbers are continuing to raise. Now there are very important in the economy. ‘The fashion industries are representing 14% of the country’s total industrial production, nearly 30% of total exports. It is becomes the second largest employment generator after agriculture’. ‘There are estimated to be 40 million people employed in the fashion industries in the world’ (Hines and Bruce, 2007). People’s life is better and better now, the big helper is the fashion industry. In addition to the people in the world could not life without the fashion topic.
In 2008, a market research firm in the United States conducted a survey which showed that most American women wear size 14, which is equivalent to the Chinese size XL or XXL. Government statistics show that 64% of American women are overweight, one third of women are obese.
