4. Results and Discussion

This part mainly introduce the result of data. The result of questionnaires are analyzed byExcel to show the current situation of reading aloud in Yingyeer Middle School. Thestatistical analysis of results from the four tests in reading aloud and listening comprehensionto answer the second research question. The data analysis by software SPSS17.0. IndependentSample T-test and Paired Sample T-test are adopted to analyze whether reading aloud couldimprove listening comprehension in Yingyeer Middle School.

4.1 Results from the Questionnaire

The aim of the questionnaire is to investigate the students’ habits of reading Englishaloud. The questionnaire was distributed in the class collected after the students finished them.The results are shown as follows.From Table 4-1 it showed that that only 16.67% of the students can read aloud usually inEnglish, which takes up a small part of the total number. 28.33% of students can sometimesread aloud of students. Seldom read English aloud is 46.67%. Even some students never readEnglish aloud that takes up 8.33 of percentages of these students. It shows that the majority ofstudents can not spend much time on reading aloud. According to the length of reading aloudtime, only one students of the sixty students spends more than 30 minutes. And thirteenstudents read English aloud between fifteen and thirty minutes, which takes up 21.67%. Thenumber of students who spend between 10 and 15 is twenty-six, taking up 43.33%. As for thetime, twenty students read English aloud less than 10 minutes, taking up a thirds of the totalnumber,which is the large number. When we asked the material of reading aloud, it isillustrate clearly that the students only depend on the textbook to read words and passages.Only several students choose other materials to read aloud which takes up 6.67%. Fourstudents choose they read all above material, including curricular and extracurricular.

Conclusion

This chapter presents the major findings in the research and discusses the implication forthe English reading aloud, and finally points out the limitation and suggestions for furtherresearch.After analyzing the data collected from the questionnaire, through the questionnaire, itshows the current situation of English reading aloud in Yingyeer Middle School. Mostlearners ignore reading aloud. Through item 1, only 16.67% students have the habit of readingaloud. Through item 2&3, 98.33% and 46.67% of students express that they read aloud lessthan 30 minutes and only choose the words as their reading-aloud materials.
