摘要:本文是初中英语教学论文,本论文通过问卷调查和实验研究朗读是否提高农村中学生在英语听力能力。在定性研究中,个案研究分析了农村初中英语朗读教学的方法,通过问卷调查和实验研究进行定量研究并发现朗读在农村英语教学中的现状以及朗读是否提高了农村初中学生听力理解能力。

1. Introduction

1.1 Background of the Research
Reading aloud has been regarded as a traditional and effective method in languageinstruction, especially in Chinese instruction since ancient times. However, in the presentEnglish examination evaluation system, English reading aloud has been neglected by teachersand students in junior high schools. Students seldom read aloud in English instruction in ruraljunior schools. The rural teachers ask students to read aloud, but the students can not readaloud in the correct reading skill. As is known if a person has been abroad in English contextfor several months, he will make a greater progress in English proficiency. Most rural studentscomplain that they can not speak English beyond English context. So it is necessary thatstudents read aloud in a real English learning context in rural junior English classroom.English reading aloud is the dual output of reading and input of listening, that is to say,the process of reading aloud is in the process of listening. The main obstacle to listeningcomprehension is that students can not identify the sounds of words and sentences correctly.However, reading aloud can recognize them. Reading aloud can strengthen the students'perception of the voice and intuit the sense of English.Nevertheless, when teachers train students’ listening comprehension, they ask students tolisten to the audio and answer some questions in three steps. First, the teacher lets the studentslisten to the tape. Second, the students read the questions before listening to find the keyinformation so that they get some key sentences to answer the multiple-choice questions.Third, the teacher check the answers after the students finish listening. If they have someproblems, the teacher will let students listen again and explain some key points. It is knownthat the rural students have few chance to listen to English beyond the class, and they can notreceive the standard English sounds. Therefore, the teacher should make full use of thematerials to let students read aloud with the correct sound. How teachers improve students’listening comprehension has perplexed English teachers, especially in rural junior highschools in Xinjiang.

1.2 Purpose of the Research
Listening comprehension plays an important role in English learning. Nowadays, all thejunior high school have arranged the listening class to improve the students’ listeningcompetence. Meanwhile, all the finally English examinations in junior high have the listeningpart. Though we all realize its importance, it doesn't mean we have found the effective wayabout improving listening comprehension. Therefore, the purpose of this study is through therelevant theories to illustrate the relationship between reading aloud and listeningcomprehension and investigate whether through reading aloud training can improve students’listening comprehension. This research bases on the former researches and combining withrelative theories to have an experiment about reading aloud. If the research result is positive, itcan be suggested to widely used in English listening teaching in rural junior high school.

2. Literature Review

The theoretical framework for the reading aloud will be introduced in the chapter. It alsoshows the relevant concepts and researches about reading aloud and listening comprehensionon abroad and at home.
