摘要:本文旨在分析动机行为,自我调节学习和自主学习的情况下,在校大学生在性别,家庭背景和学术专业化方面看1)一般特征(上)每个组件;2)不同的学生群体之间的差异;3)特征研船之间的激励,自我调节和学习者自主性。

t teachers could think more about theways of raising students  motivation, improving their ability to regulate their learning,and finally enhancing their autonomous learning competence, instead of stressing theimportance of the English examinations time and again and putting too much pressureon them.


1.3 Organization of the thesis
In the introduction, research background is briefly described and the purpose ofthe research is revealed. Chapter two reviews the basic concepts of motivation, self-regulation and learner autonomy and some related research. It first introduces theconcept, classification and theories of motivation. Then the author continues toelaborate the complexity of the concept of self-regulation, the three stages usuallycontained in self-regulated learning, characteristics of skillful self-regulated learnersand related researches. Third, the definition of learner autonomy, characteristics ofautonomous learner and some approaches in learner autonomy are introduced. Lastresearches concerning the relationship among the three parts are reviewed. Chapterthree introduces the methodology of this study, including research questions,participants, instruments, and data collection. In chapter four, the data collected areanalysed and the reasons that may lead to the results are discussed. In chapter five, thethesis is concluded by stating the major findings and implications for future teachingas well as the limitations of the present research and suggestions for future research.


Chapter Two Literature Review


This chapter reviews the literature concerning concepts, classifications, theoriesand researches on motivation, self-regulation and learner autonomy.


2.1 Motivation


2.1.1. Concept of Motivation
Research on motivation in SLA has been greatly influenced by the work ofGardner and his associates. Gardner (1985: 10) defines motivation as “thecombination of effort plus desire to achieve the goal of learning the language plusfavorable attitudes toward learning the language”.William and Burden (1997: 120-21) gives a proposed definition of motivationfrom a cognitive perspective. They define motivation as “a state of cognitive andemotional arousal which leads to a conscious decision to act, and which gives rise to aperiod of sustained intellectual and/or physical effort in order to attain a previously setgoal (or goals)”. According to this definition, three stages on motivation can be seen.First, people are aroused by some factors, either internal or external. Second, peoplewill make a conscious decision to do things when they are activated. Third, sustainedeffort is needed to achieve certain sorts of goals.
