Chapter 4 Results and Discussion

In this chapter, the author aims to show the result of third chapter and discussthe two research questions. So the author presents three parts includ ing results,discussion and suggestions for teachers. In the first part, the author includes results ofquestionnaire, pre-test, post-test delayed-test and intervie w. In the second part, theauthor discusses the results on the two questions.

4.1 Results

In this part, the author shows the results of the experimental data collectedfrom CC and EC and the data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0.The questionnaire includes ten questions about subjects’ basic background.There are 76 students including 35 boys and 41 girls participated in the experim entThey are in Grade 2 in senior high school. All of these students com e from variousplaces of Fushun City. Some of them are urban and most of them are from rural areas.But they are all Chinese and their m other tongue is Chinese. They all have learnedEnglish for about seven years from the third grade of primary school. Here is a tableof the results of questionnaire in Table 4.1.These questions are about the basic skills of reading comprehension. And this tableshows that most of students think it hard in English learning. When they read, manyof them do not know the m ain idea of the reading. And they are not interested inteaching method. And the reading class is seldo m helpful for studen ts to read afterclass.

Conclusion

This chapter presents the conclusion of the whole study including som e majorfindings on this study , pedagogical im plication on the teachers and students,limitations of the study and some suggestions for further research.During the four m onths, the author tried to teach students how to for m imagery orcreate a picture or videos in the m ind when they read. T he author used the twoclasses to do a study and collected data. And the study used the data both thequantitatively and qualitatively to analyze the results on the two research questions.Therefore, combined with Chapter 4 Re sults and Discussion, there are m ajor twofindings mainly on the two research questions presented as follows.First of all, the teaching method in reading comprehension with the help p fDCT especially imagery training can help students with the improvement of skills ofEnglish reading com prehension especially narrations and expositions. During thefour months, students accepted im agery training and they can create pictu res andvideos in their m ind when they read.
