DEADLINES
It is really important that you put these in your diary now!
Week commencing 21 September 2009 (Induction)
Wednesday 7 October 2009: Submit brief Research Proposal
This applies only to students who are EITHER entering directly into Honours Year from other UK and overseas institutions OR continuing students who did not take the module, BUSN3035 Business Research Methods, in Degree Year at the University. It is important that students submit this proposal on time so that they can be allocated a supervisor as soon as possible.
Tuesday 2 December 2009: Submit First Progress Report*
*Copies of the Progress Report Forms can be found in the Assignments Section of the Blackboard site for this module, together with instructions on the procedure for downloading and completing these forms.
Tuesday 16 March 2010: Submit Second Progress Report
Please note that progress reports MUST be signed by BOTH the student and the supervisor, otherwise they will not be valid and your progress will be deemed unsatisfactory.
THURSDAY 1 APRIL 2010, 1500hours – SUBMIT DISSERTATION
You should read the course regulations and information on Blackboard governing submission of work. You should note that marks will be deducted for late submission of the Dissertation, if no formal extension is agreed in advance. If it is submitted up to a week late the deduction is 10%. Please remember that the dissertation is a double module and so the effect of a penalty is more severe than for a single module. Please note that extensions will not normally be given for reasons other than illness and can 本

only be obtained, in advance of the deadline. If you believe that you may require an extension then you should discuss this with your Supervisor in the first instance. Your Supervisor will in turn discuss your request with the Module Coordinator and after both members of staff have agreed to an extension, you will receive formal notification that an extension has been granted from the Module Coordinator. Please note that you should not rely on an extension until you have received this formal notification. Full instructions on what to do if you find yourself in this situation are given in the Course Information section of Blackboard. Be aware that you must provide a medical certificate or letter signed by a doctor to cover all the period of an extension. A self-certificate is not acceptable. You should note that many doctors charge for this service and you must bear the cost.
