Introduction: Topic-literature review- Research Question-Test Case
Introduce shortly the topic of your research and display its relevance with an everyday example.

Present the relevant literature you found in your literature search (step2). Summarize the most important findings in your own words. Pinpoint what researchers agree and do not agree on and what the (conflicting) empirical evidences are. Describe at least two different stances that researchers take concerning your question. Remember to use references when you report theories and empirical evidences.

The literature review has two aims:
1. To give the reader enough background information to understand your study.
2. To show the relevance of your study. You should convince the reader that it is worthwhile investigating your question. Still do not overwhelm your reader. Keep your review short and to the point. You should only mention those studies, results and theories that are important to your question. You should absolutely not write less than one or more than 3 pages. Remember: Write as much as you believe is necessary to make the reader understand but be as concise and brief as possible.

At the end of the literature review, state your research question explicitly. It should not be more than one or two sentences.

Explain shortly how you want to study your question. What is your test case? Give a summary of your method.

If you want to scrutinize a certain linguistic structure of your participant’s L2 or L1, give a structural description of them.

Generate hypotheses concerning the results of your study.

Method
Participants
Describe the participants that you would like to take part in your study.
How many and how old should they be? Which language background should they have? Describe how and according to what you have grouped them (if you did so). Do not write more than one paragraph.

Material and Procedure
The reader should get a clear understanding of how your material will look like and why you did choose this very method. Do not enumerate every single little item, but describe the general lay out of your tasks / instruments / stimuli. Add the full complete list of your material at the end of your paper under Appendix. Include in the Material and Procedure chapter only a summary. For example, if you plan to use a questionnaire, which general kind of items will it contain? If you use elicitation tasks, describe them in general terms. What do they aim to elicit? How many tasks will you use? If you carry out an interview, what kind of questions will you ask and why? How long will the interview be and why? If you design an experiment, which kind of stimuli will you use?

Describe the data collection procedure. What will you tell your participants? In what order will you do what? Who will be the experimenter?

Expected results
Since you do not carry out the study at this point you will not have any actual results.
