Conclusion


The present study has yielded a number of finding relating to similarities anddifferences in the use of adjective patterns across different proficiency levels, and tothe evaluative meanings of such patterns underlying the learners’ performance inargumentative production. Theoretically, some of the findings in this particular studyof L2 learners’ evaluation have developed the current theories of evaluation andreevaluated the Pattern Grammar, while others have contributed to the theory of erroranalysis from a lexico-grammar perspective. Practically, some discussions concerningthe multivariate analysis and the implementation of the Pattern Grammar approach aresignificant in language research and language teaching. The limitations of the presentstudy must be acknowledged such as scope and generalizability issues. In spite of allthese, the present study can serve as a starting point for future research on the L2learners’ evaluative language, either written or spoken.
