本文是一篇商务英语翻译论文，本文通过对一些典型的中国特色政治词译文不一致的分析，笔者发现中国特色政治词译文混乱，不规范，不统一问题非常严重，主要分为三大问题：（1）同一中国特色政治词在同一国家权威媒体译文不统一。（2）同一中国特色政治词在同一领导人的不同演讲中译文不统一。

Chapter one Introduction

1.1 Research Background

Since the commence of 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,XiJinping,chairman and president of the Communist Party of China and the country,has beendelivering a series of new concepts,new terms,new expressions with Chinese characteristics,such as“全面从严治党”,“四个自信”,“五位一体总体布局”,“共商共建共享”etc.Thetranslation of such Chinese political terms is conducive to promoting exchanges betweenChina and the international community,telling the Chinese story and improving China’sinfluence in the world.After searching online for these terms’English translated versions,wefind there are various English translated versions of the political terms without norms andconsistency in the authoritative Media,leaders’speeches and authoritative organizations.Andwe don’t know which English translated version should be chosen as the consistent one.

Taking the political term“四个意识”as an example,we find four English translatedversions in different leaders’speeches and political documents on different authoritativemedia:“四个意识”is found translated into at least such four versions as(1)maintainpolitical integrity,think in big-picture terms,follow the leadership core,and keep inalignment with the central Party leadership(REPORT ON THE WORK OF THEGOVERNMENT,2021);(2)be deeply conscious of the need to maintain political integrity,think in big-picture terms,follow the leadership core,and keep in alignment with the centralParty leadership(Speech by Xi Jinping at a Ceremony Marking the Centenary of theCommunist Party of China,2 July,2021);(3)consciousness of the need to maintain politicalintegrity,think in big-picture terms,follow the leadership core,and keep in alignment(Chinadaily,2020);

1.2 Research Objectives

Political terms with Chinese characteristics,rich in connotation,are the crystallization ofChina’s excellent national culture and an important carrier of China’s political concepts.Theyplay an important role in spreading traditional Chinese culture and political concepts,promoting national policies.Translating political terms with Chinese characteristics well canenhance China’s image and international discourse power.However,inconsistency problemsand lack of norms in the translation of political terms with Chinese characteristics inauthoritative media and authoritative organizations are serious,which is hindering thepublicity of China’s political concepts,impeding the international communication anddamage China’s international image.Therefore,this thesis intends to solve the inconsistencyproblems of three types:(1)inconsistent translated versions of the same political term in thesame authoritative media.(2)inconsistent translated versions of the same political term in thesame leader’s speech.(3)inconsistent translated versions of the same political term indifferent leaders’speeches,political documents and authoritative media.
